“Assenze” is a collection of short and intense stories that move like fragments of memory, touching intimate and universal chords. Every story is a thrust into the silence left by those who are no longer with us and those who are still with us: an important figure, a missed gesture, a word never said, a presence that has never truly incarnated. Absences are brought to life through voices – all crossed by a sweet melancholy and a lucid awareness. With an essential, evocative and empathetic style, the author gives voice to what could not be said, offering the reader a space for recognition and emotional resonance. Absences is a book that not only tells of shortcomings, but also of the desire to mend, to understand, to keep memory alive. As for the cover I have a suggestion, that is, instead of using an image I thought of a knotted or interrupted “red thread”. All this to symbolize the family line, which can be irregular or “entangled.”
Don’t miss the book presentation at Piola Piccola on March 3rd.
